Het syndroom van Ehlers-Danlos

Samenvatting

Het syndroom van Ehlers-Danlos is een groep collageenaandoeningen, gekenmerkt door hypermobiele gewrichten en hyperelastische huid. Daarnaast komen, afhankelijk van het type, uiteenlopende andere verschijnselen voor. Het syndroom heeft soms een onvoorspelbaar beloop. Herkenning van het syndroom en begeleiding van de patiënt kunnen onnodige lichamelijke en psychosociale complicaties voorkomen. Doordat het syndroom lichamelijke, psychische en sociale consequenties heeft, is voor de huisarts een dankbare taak als coördinator van de zorg weggelegd.
