Samenvatting

Na een onbeschermde coïtus of een mislukte anticonceptie bestaat kans op zwangerschap die varieert van 0 tot 17%. De grootte van deze kans is afhankelijk van het moment in de cyclus van de vrouw waarop de coïtus plaats vindt. Theoretisch is de kans op zwangerschap het grootst tussen de 10e en de 17e dag van een cyclus van normale lengte. Een recent onderzoek onder 221 vrouwen in Engeland laat echter zien dat op dagen gelegen tussen de 5e en 21e dag van de cyclus er tenminste 10% kans bestaat dat de vrouw in haar vruchtbare periode is.1
