Samenvatting
Voordat GGZ-patiënten met hun hulpverlener in zee gaan, informeren zij zich tegenwoordig vrij gedegen: ‘Hoe lang is uw wachtlijst?’ ‘Hoe effectief is uw behandeling?’ ‘Is er vrij parkeren?’ Door de marktwerking in de GGZ concurreren instellingen om de gunst van de klant. En de GGZ-patiënt is meer dan voorheen een zelfbewuste consument die correct en begrijpelijk wil worden geïnformeerd. Psycho-educatie staat dan ook centraal in de geestelijke gezondheidszorg. Zij ontbreekt in geen enkele behandelrichtlijn. Bovendien staat het informed consent als een recht omschreven in de wet op de geneeskundige behandelovereenkomst (artikelen 448 tot en met 450).
