Posaconazol: een nieuw oraal antimycoticum met een verbreed werkingsspectrum

Samenvatting

Invasieve schimmelinfecties zijn een belangrijke oorzaak van morbiditeit bij patiënten met verminderde immunologische afweer. Het aantal beschikbare antimycotische middelen is de laatste 10 jaar behoorlijk toegenomen. Nieuwe azolen hebben een breder spectrum dan fluconazol en zijn ook toepasbaar bij invasieve schimmels zoals Aspergillus species. Echinocandines (o.a. caspofungin) zijn een nieuwe mogelijkheid om infecties met ‘azoolresistente’ Candida species te behandelen.
