Het psychotherapeutisch gehalte van de psychiater

Samenvatting

Ter gelegenheid van mijn afscheid van de Psychiatrische Universiteits Kliniek Utrecht werd een symposium georganiseerd onder de titel Psychotherapie en psychiatrie. In de afsluitende voordracht die mij in dit symposium was toebedeeld, heb ik geprobeerd om de plaats van de psychotherapie in de psychiatrie te verduidelijken. De fictieve titel voor mijn betoog was: een psychotherapeutische psychiatrie. Het zal duidelijk zijn dat ik me daarmee afzette tegen de gebruikelijke pogingen om het begrip psychiatrische psychotherapie te omschrijven en af te grenzen.
