Weerzien met…Karen Horney

Samenvatting

Met deze woorden herdacht DeMartino in 1991 de psychoanalytica Karen Horney (1885–1952). Hij deed dat in een speciale, geheel aan Horney gewijde editie van The American Journal of Psychoanalysis, het tijdschrift dat vijftig jaar geleden door haar werd opgericht. Ook de New Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (AAP) en het bijbehorende opleidingsinstituut, The American Institute for Psychoanalysis , vierden dat jaar hun vijftigste verjaardag en ook zij dankten hun bestaan aan de ‘gentle rebel’, die in 1941 samen met vier andere revisionisten de naar hun smaak te orthodoxe New York Psychoanalytic Society verlieten om een eigen vereniging op te richten.
