Samenvatting
Frontotemporale dementie (FTD) wordt in het beginstadium lang niet altijd herkend. Twee patiënten werden gepresenteerd die een vergelijkbaar patroon aan gedragsmatige veranderingen vertoonden bij een relatief lang intact blijven van cognitieve functies. Het aanvullend onderzoek liet grote verschillen zien, maar op grond van het klinisch beeld werd bij beiden de diagnose FTD gesteld. Een gestructureerde exploratie van de neuropsychiatrische symptomen in multidisciplinair verband kan vertraging in het stellen van de diagnose verminderen.
