Abstract
Uit onderzoek naar drugsverslaving blijkt dat er in de hersenen specifieke biologische stoffen aanwezig zijn die een rol spelen bij drugsverslaving. Eén groep van de betrokken stoffen zijn de endorfinen. Endorfinen zijn stoffen die voorkomen in de hersenen en die qua werking sterk lijken op opiaten, zoals morfine en heroïne (vandaar de naam endogene morfinen). In dit artikel zal nader worden ingegaan op de rol van deze endorfinen bij het ontstaan en het verloop van een drugsverslaving.
