De tandarts aan het woord: ‘In mijn praktijk is al vele jaren een patiënte uit Ghana onder behandeling met sikkelcel-ziekte - tot nu toe zonder problemen. Onlangs zijn op de afdeling mondziekten en kaakchirurgie verstandskiezen onder profylaxeparaplu verwijderd. Ook zijn bij haar enige zwartingen gevonden. Een vaker beschreven complicatie. Haar dentitie is overigens zeer goed met zeer weinig caviteiten en weinig restauraties. Mijn vraag is aan u of het behandelen van de avitale elementen ook onder anti-bioticaprofylaxe moet geschieden.’
