Samenvatting

De ontwikkelingen in de verpleegkunde en het verpleegkundig onderwijs staan niet stil. Twee van deze ontwikkelingen zijn de komst van het competentiegerichte onderwijs en de intrede van de Nurse Practitioner. Beide vinden hun oorsprong in de 19e eeuw, bij Florence Nightingale die pionier was op het gebied van de verpleegkunde en het verpleegkundig onderwijs. Ook heden ten dage kan de Nurse Practitioner een rol vervullen in het onderwijs aan verpleegkundigen.
