Abstract
Het doel van de studie was de functionele uitkomst te evalueren bij patiënten (< 16 jaar) met een patellaluxatie, waarbij gerandomiseerd werd in vroege operatieve correctie versus conservatieve behandeling. Alle 62 patiënten ondergingen stresstests onder anesthesie om de mate van dislocatie te evalueren. De patiënten in de operatieve groep (n=35) met een luxatie tijdens stresstests ondergingen ofwel een directe peeshechting met release van het laterale retinaculum (n=24; 4 alleen peesherstel), ofwel alleen een laterale release (n=7). De nabehandeling na operatieve correctie was identiek aan de behandeling in de conservatieve groep. Bij een positieve stresstest kregen patiënten drie weken een knie-extensieorthese en vervolgens nog drie weken een patel-lastabiliserende orthese.
