Benzodiazepinen worden op grote schaal gebruikt en er is veel onderzoek gedaan naar factoren die dit gebruik bepalen. Het gebruik in de psychiatrie is echter veel minder onderzocht en daarom verrichtten Veronese et al. een onderzoek naar een aantal kenmerken van de toepassing van benzodiazepinen in de psychiatrie.
