Samenvatting
Een aantal jaren geleden ontwikkelden Bateman en Fonagy samen de eerste evidence-based techniek voor de behandeling van de borderlinepersoonlijkheidsstoornis: Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT), waarover hun publicatie Psychotherapy for Borderline Personality Disorder (Bateman & Fonagy, 2004) handelde. Mentaliseren bij de borderline persoonlijkheidsstoornis is een opvolger op dit eerder gepubliceerde werk. Zoals blijkt uit hun inleiding wilden de auteurs een toegankelijk, begrijpelijk en diepgaand boek schrijven, dat als praktische gids zou kunnen dienen. Voor mij is er echter geen eenduidig antwoord te geven op de vraag of ze hierin zijn geslaagd. Na het boek van kaft tot kaft gelezen te hebben, bespeur ik bij mezelf ambivalente gedachten.
