Samenvatting

De wetenschappelijke evidentie voor de effectiviteit van gedragstherapie voor de behandeling van tics neemt toe. Naast tientallen ongecontroleerde studies, waarin de effectiviteit van gedragstherapie is aangetoond, is er een toename van randomized controlled trials (RCT’s; voor een overzicht, zie Cook & Blacher, 2007). In RCT’s is de effectiviteit van habit reversal, een gedragstherapeutische interventie, aangetoond boven een wachtlijstcontroleconditie (Azrin & Peterson, 1990; O’Connor et al., 2001) en boven ondersteunende psychotherapie (Deckersbach, Rauch, Buhlmann, & Wilhelm, 2006; Wilhelm et al., 2003).
