Samenvatting

Leenaarts (2008) beschrijft in De Telegraaf een probleem dat zich heeft voorgedaan bij ezels in Soedan. Wat is het geval? Aldaar gestationeerde Indiase militairen is het opgevallen dat ezels die slecht behandeld worden, zelfmoord zouden plegen. De militairen melden twee incidenten, waarbij ezels ‘de dood verkozen boven hun miserabel bestaan’. Wij citeren:
