Gevolgen en behandeling van inactiviteit en bedrust

Samenvatting

Fysiotherapeuten krijgen regelmatig te maken met de gevolgen van inactiviteit. Inactiviteit of bewegingsarmoede leidt tot gezondheidsproblemen zoals het deconditioneringssyndroom. Onderzoeken hebben aangetoond dat deconditioneren het verlies van cardiovasculair vermogen, balans, botdichtheid, spierkracht en spierduurvermogen tot gevolg heeft. Voor iedereen, maar vooral voor ouderen, betekent dit een verlies van het vermogen bepaalde activiteiten te verrichten. Gerichte oefentherapie kan de gevolgen van inactiviteit significant verbeteren.
