Samenvatting

Vooruitgang in neurofysiologisch onderzoek in de laatste twintig jaar heeft geleid tot ingrijpende veranderingen in het begrip van de controle van de beweging door het zenuwstelsel. Deze nieuwe ideeën hebben de aandacht gericht op mogelijkheden voor herstel van de motoriek die voorheen niet serieus genomen werden. Daar komt bij dat veranderingen in de bestaande gezondheidszorg noodzakelijk kunnen zijn om het herstelproces te optimaliseren en het voor de patiënten maximaal mogelijke te bereiken.
