Terugval in middelengebruik tijdens poliklinische psychotherapie met (ex-)verslaafden

Hoe te handelen bij terugval tijdens een doorlopende psychotherapie met (ex)verslaafden? Voor de onderbouwing en de verbetering van hun werkwijze, wilden de auteurs van dit artikel weten hoe vaak terugval voorkomt, op welk moment in het proces, in welke mate van ernst, en of er een verband is met de uitkomst van de behandeling. Na een pilotonderzoek vulden psychotherapeuten een vragenlijst in na beëindiging van elke individuele psychotherapie. Terugval hoort bij werken met (ex)verslaafden: meer dan de helft van de cliënten valt af en toe terug tijdens de psychotherapie. Onderscheid tussen verschillende soorten terugval blijkt praktisch van groot belang en draagt bij tot verbetering van de werkwijze.
