Abstract Summary Peer review communication nursing home physician with patient and family

The group of nursing home physicians of De Zorgboog in Bakel, Holland, chose as a subject of a peer review the communication of the nursing home physician with the patient and his family. From December 2002 till June 2004 a total of 15 meetings were spent. We experimented with some adjustments in the process of peer review. As a method the standard was developed parallel to the actual peer review. In addition, an attainable standard was formulated from our own professional experience. As a working form we chose for making a video-tape of the contact with feedback during the group meeting. Our experiences with the adjustments in the process were positive. Furthermore, this cycle of peer review strengthened our team-spirit.

Samenvatting

De toetsingsgroep van De Zorgboog Verpleeghuizen te Bakel koos als toetsingsonderwerp het familiegesprek. Van december 2002 tot juni 2004 werden hieraan 15 bijeenkomsten besteed.Wij hebben geëxperimenteerd met enkele aanpassingen in het toetsingsproces. Qua methode werd gekozen voor het parallel laten lopen van normontwikkeling en daadwerkelijke toetsing. Tevens werd een haalbare verbeternorm geformuleerd vanuit onze eigen beroepsmatige ervaring. De werkvorm bestond uit een video-opname en reflectie daarop in de groep. Onze ervaringen met de aanpassingen van het toetsingsproces waren positief. Bovendien versterkte deze toetsingscyclus het saamhorigheidsgevoel binnen het artsenteam.
