Samenvatting

Het betreft een retrospectieve studie over 10 jaar aan de Dental School van de Universiteit van North Carolina, waarbij alle patiënten betrokken werden van wie ‘het verslikken’ in de tandheelkundige setting gedocumenteerd was. Zowel de tandheelkundige als de medische gegevens werden geanalyseerd. In totaal werden 36 patiënten gedetecteerd, waarvan 25 iets hadden ingeslikt, 1 patiënt had daadwerkelijk iets geaspireerd (afdrukmateriaal) en in 10 gevallen werd er röntgenologisch niets vastgesteld of was het voorwerp via de mond weer verwijderd.
