Voor kronen, bruggen en andere dentale prothesen wordt veelal goud gebruikt. Maar het gele metaal heeft verder vrijwel geen enkele praktische toepassing gevonden, en dat terwijl er over de hele wereld miljoenen kilo's goudstaven liggen zonder enige bestemming. Waarom is het gele metaal dan zo dôôr?
