Abstract

Evenals de behandeling is de indicatiestelling van edentate patiënten met persisterende protheseklachten lastig en zelden eenduidig. Allereerst is er het verhaal en de wens van de patiënt, maar zeker ook de algemene gezondheid telt mee. Verder spelen meer objectieve gegevens een belangrijke rol: botsituatie, zowel kwalitatief als kwantitatief, spieren, spieraanhechtingen en mucosale omstandigheden, functionele belasting, morfologie, en zeker niet te vergeten de intermaxillaire relatie, zowel in horizontale als sagittale zin.
