Samenvatting
Op 16 april 2003 heeft de Vaste commissie voor de volksgezondheid van de Nederlandse Tweede Kamer een hoorzitting gehouden over het wetsvoorstel zelfbinding. Dit wetsvoorstel voegt aan de Wet bijzondere opnemingen in psychiatrische ziekenhuizen (Bopz) de mogelijkheid toe dat een patiënt tegen zijn wil wordt opgenomen op basis van een eerder door de patiënt zelf opgestelde verklaring. Zo'n zelfbindingsverklaring kan dan een dwangopname voorkomen, bijvoorbeeld in geval van psychosen of bipolaire stoornissen waarbij de terugkeer van de storende symptomen in enige mate voorspelbaar is.
