Abstract

Is het gebruik van een computer slecht voor de gezondheid? Je zou het bijna gaan denken. Het lijstje met ‘computerkwalen’ wordt steeds langer. Gezien het aantal gebruikers hoeft dat niet te verbazen. Naar schatting zitten alleen al in Nederland zo'n 3 miljoen mensen voor hun werk achter een beeldscherm. Nog eens bijna een miljoen Nederlanders werkt soms met een computer. Maar ook thuis wordt de computer intensief gebruikt. Sommige mensen weten letterlijk niet meer van ophouden. Dat intensieve gebruik leidt tot verschillende lichamelijke en psychologische problemen. Dit artikel gaat in op de vraag waaraan overmatig computergebruik te herkennen is en wat eraan te doen valt. Tot slot wordt besproken of er nu sprake is van een hype of een serieus probleem.
