Fysiotherapeutische revalidatie in Australië na totale knievervanging

Samenvatting

Door schaarste aan klinisch-wetenschappelijk onderzoek ontbreekt het aan wetenschappelijk onderbouwde klinische richtlijnen voor fysiotherapeutische revalidatie na totale knievervanging. Toch hebben momenteel jaarlijks meer dan 20.000 patiënten in Australië, meer dan 300.000 patiënten in Noord-Amerika en 36.000 patiënten in het Verenigd Koninkrijk in principe revalidatie nodig om weer functioneel onafhankelijk te worden en hun recreatieve en arbeidzame lichamelijke bezigheden te hervatten. Het doel van dit onderzoek onder clinici was de standaard (gebruikelijke) zorg te beschrijven na totale knievervanging in Australië en mogelijke verklaringen te bieden voor verschillen in de praktijk, zo die er zijn.
