Samenvatting
Opheldering van de effecten van manueel-therapeutische behandeltechnieken verschaft inzicht in hun werkingsmechanismen. Verscheidene behandeltechnieken voor de cervicale wervelkolom blijken stelselmatig prikkeling van de sympathicus teweeg te brengen, zoals blijkt uit veranderingen in de sudomotorische en perifere vasomotorische functies. Om de mate en aard van dit door manipulatie teweeggebrachte sympatho-excitatoire effect vast te stellen, werden veranderingen in de cardiale en respiratoire functie onderzocht.
