De getuigenis als therapie.

Beschrijving van een kortdurende therapeutische methode voor getraumatiseerde slachtoffers van politiek geweld.

Abstract

Bij voormalige politieke gevangenen in Chili bleek het afleggen van een getuigenis over hun traumatische ervaringen een gunstig effect te hebben op hun posttraumatische stressklachten. Op basis van deze bevinding is het afleggen van een getuigenis vaker toegepast als therapie bij door politiek geweld getroffenen. In dit artikel wordt de getuigenistherapie beschreven en in een theoretisch kader geplaatst. Tevens wordt ingegaan op de behandelpraktijk.
