Abstract
Psychoanalytische overwegingen worden gemaakt bij het onderkennen van grensoverschrijdend seksueel gedrag als (beroeps)risico voor psychotherapeuten. Afweermechanismen die gehanteerd worden tegen het erkennen van de ernst en omvang van het probleem zoals loochening, romantisering, grootheids– en almachtsfantasieën, idolisering, anale afweervormen, projectie, rationalisatie en dissociatie worden besproken. Ook het spanningsveld bij het melden van grensoverschrijdend seksueel gedrag wordt besproken, en de tegenstrijdige gevoelens voor daders. De hypothese wordt geformuleerd dat psychotherapeuten–daders van grensoverschrijdend seksueel gedrag lijden aan een psychiatrische aandoening. Dit mag overigens sancties niet in de weg staan. Preventieve maatregelen worden kort genoemd.

Defence mechanisms against sexual boundary violations by psychotherapists
This article presents psychoanalytical reflections on the acknowledgement that sexual boundary violations are a professional risk for psychotherapists. Defence mechanisms applied against acknowledging the seriousness and the extent of the problem such as denial, idolization, anal mechanisms, projection, rationalization and dissociation are discussed. The area of tension involved in the reporting of sexual boundary violation and the contradictory feelings towards the offender is covered. The article puts forward the hypothesis that therapists who violate sexual boundaries suffer from a psychiatric illness, which, however, may never be an obstacle against sanctions. Preventive measures are briefly mentioned.
A.P.M. van Strien is (kinder– en jeugd)psychiater en psychoanalyticus. Als medisch hoofd en psychiater is hij verbonden aan De Mark, centrum voor kinder– en jeugdpsychiatrie, onderdeel van medisch centrum De Klokkenberg in Breda. Daarnaast heeft hij een privé–praktijk. Hij is tevens vertrouwenspersoon grensoverschrijdend seksueel gedrag van de RIAGG in 's–Hertogenbosch.
