Zwangerschap van een psychotherapeute

Abstract

In dit artikel wordt een aantal facetten besproken van de zwangerschap van een psychotherapeute. De emoties in de overdracht hebben voor verschillende patiënten een andere betekenis, al naar gelang hun levensgeschiedenis, hun sekse en hun persoonlijkheidsstructuur. De hoge eisen, die een zwangere psychotherapeute in het algemeen aan zichzelf stelt, hebben gevolgen voor de contacten met haar collega's; supervisoren kunnen dan van betekenis zijn bij exploratie van complexe gevoelens bij de therapeute zelf, andere stafleden en patiënten. Bij een zwangerschap is het thema zelfonthulling en begrenzing bij uitstek aan de orde.

Pregnancy in a psychotherapist

This article discusses some aspects of pregnancy in a psychotherapist. The emotions in the transference will have a different meaning in each patient, depending on his/her personal history, sex and personality structure. In general, a pregnant therapist tends to put high demands on herself, which has implications for contacts with her colleagues. Supervisors may have an important role in exploring the complex feelings in both therapist, staff members and patients. Self–disclosure and boundaries are essential themes during the pregnancy of a therapist.
