Wetenschappelijk onderzoek in de kinderoncologie binnen het Emma Kinderziekenhuis AMC

Samenvatting

De afgelopen decennia zijn de genezingskansen voor kinderen met kanker gestegen van <30% in de jaren zestig tot momenteel >70%. Deze sterke verbetering is vooral te danken aan het toepassen van chemotherapie via internationale multicenter klinische trials en aan verbeterde ondersteunende maatregelen. Voortzetting van de internationale klinische trials en onderzoek naar efficiëntere ondersteunende zorg is dan ook geboden om deze hoge genezingskansen blijvend te waarborgen.
