Samenvatting

Retinopathy of prematurity (rop) is een oogziekte die vooral bij ernstig zieke, zeer prematuur geboren kinderen voorkomt. rop ontstaat in twee fasen. De eerste fase wordt gekenmerkt door een stilstand in de normale groei van de netvliesvaten. De tweede fase door nieuwe ongecontroleerde vaatuitgroei op de plaats waar de normale vaatgroei gestopt is.
