Summary
A case is described of a 13-year old girl presenting with a persistent solid mass on her chest X-ray. Because she was asymptomatic, an expectant policy was maintained for two years. She was finally diagnosed with pulmonary carcinoid which had to be treated with pneumonectomy. A persistent solid lung mass on a chest X-ray deserves an aggressive diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
