Samenvatting

De ontwikkeling van persoonlijkheid, ervaren relationele ondersteuning, groepsfunctioneren, probleemgedrag, en welbevinden werden bestudeerd bij 1430 meisjes en 1931 jongens, variërend in leeftijd van twaalf tot achttien jaar. De onderzochte ontwikkelingsindicatoren leeftijd, leerjaar, onderwijsniveau, puberteitsontwikkeling, en beleving van de puberteitsontwikkeling verwezen naar respectievelijk de chronologische, sociale, cognitieve, biologische, en emotionele ontwikkeling. Alcohol- en sigaretten-, en in mindere mate druggebruik werden grotendeels voorspeld door de indicatoren, terwijl de verschillen in ontwikkeling in het functioneren op andere gebieden in geringe mate voorspeld werden. Implicaties van de resultaten worden besproken.
