Raadsonderzoeken en de totstandkoming van omgangsregelingen

Samenvatting

In dit artikel wordt verslag gedaan van een onderzoek naar de vraag of de werkwijze van maatschappelijk werkers bij aanvang van raadsonderzoeken in echtscheidingszaken van invloed is op de totstandkoming van een aanvaardbare omgangsregeling. Daartoe zijn 221 onderzoeken van de Raad voor de Kinderbescherming in Roermond geanalyseerd. Het blijkt dat een gezamenlijke start waarbij beide ouders bij het eerste gesprek aanwezig zijn, vaker gepaard gaat met de totstandkoming van een aanvaardbare omgangsregeling dan een individuele start, waarbij eerst gesprekken met beide ouders afzonderlijk worden gevoerd. Deze samenhang geldt ongeacht de soort zaak waaraan een maatschappelijk werker werkt.

Summary

In this study we examined whether the establishment of a satisfying arrangement concerning parental access after divorce depends on the procedure welfare workers apply. We analyzed 221 cases at a Child Protection Agency in the Netherlands. If welfare workers start discussions with both parents together, then better arrangements concerning parental access are established than if welfare workers start discussions with each parent separately.

This is the case irrespective of the nature of the case the social worker is working on.
