Abstract

Despite Cue Exposure Therapy recently being mentioned as a potentially effective treatment for addiction, scientific results are not promising. In the randomized study discussed above it was found that heroin addicted subjects following a protocolized CET-treatment were three times more likely to relapse than subjects receiving a placebo-psychotherapy-treatment. Following these unexpected results we discuss the question whether Cue Exposure Therapy has anything to offer addicts at all?
