Abstract

Choking phobia is the fear to choke and suffocate while eating. This endangers the food-intake of patients and negatively affects their social life. A number of cases are described in the literature. Behavioural therapy provides good possibilities for treatment. Intervention techniques, such as exposure and cognitive therapy are used. As an illustration of treatment possibilities, the cases of three patients are described in detail in this article.
