semenvatting

Abstract
Ego–state therapy with emotionally neglected patients. Emotionally neglected or traumatised neurotic patients often report experiencing symptoms or aspects of their personality in a dissociated manner. They might say: ‘Something within me has eating binges’ or ‘I am not a perfectionist myself, but something within me is’. These statements may reflect the presence of so called ‘ego–states’. The article describes the treatment of these patients: teaching the ego–states how to collaborate with each other, teaching the patient how to console the child–parts, and eventually helping him to master the trauma's of the past.
