Samenvatting
In de laatste decennia is de psycholoog een geaccepteerde (mede)pijnbehandelaar geworden ten behoeve van chronische pijnpatiënten in het ziekenhuis. Toch is vaak niet of onvoldoende bekend wat het behandeldomein van de psycholoog is bij chronische en subacute pijn. Moet de psycholoog elke patiënt diagnosticeren? Doet hij een uitspraak over de pijnoorzaak? Op welke gronden berust de indicatie voor een psychologische behandeling? Moet de psycholoog in het ziekenhuis elke patiënt met een behandelindicatie zelf behandelen?
Deze bijdrage schetst eerst het theoretische kader waarbinnen de psycholoog functioneert en zet daarna uiteen wat er uit wetenschappelijk onderzoek bekend is over de psychologische factoren die de pijnbeleving beïnvloeden. Vervolgens wordt nader ingegaan op het functioneren van de psycholoog binnen een pijnteam (zowel diagnostisch als behandelend) en op de rol die hij kan en moet spelen bij subacute pijn.pijn psychologie cognitieve gedragstherapie samenwerking
