‘Uit de luiers’: incontinentie voor urine bij ouderen

Samenvatting

Incontinentie voor urine is een aandoening die veel voorkomt bij ouderen. De prevalentie stijgt sterk met de leeftijd. Bij ouderen spelen naast urogynaecologische problemen en veroudering van de urinewegen ook comorbiditeit, medicatie en functionele beperkingen een rol bij het ontstaan of verergeren van incontinentieklachten. Bij het onderzoek van ouderen met ongewild urineverlies is het zaak aandacht te besteden aan alle mogelijk bijdragende factoren. In de behandeling van urine-incontinentie bij ouderen zijn conservatieve maatregelen in de vorm van voorlichting, adviezen, blaastraining en bekkenbodemoefeningen de eerste stap. Ook bij ouderen zijn hiervan gunstige resultaten te verwachten. Daarnaast wordt getracht de aan het urineverlies bijdragende factoren in gunstige zin te beïnvloeden.multifactorieel probleem ongewild urineverlies urine-incontinentie urogynaecologische problemen blaastraining
