Samenvatting
Hart- en vaatziekten blijven de belangrijkste oorzaak van morbiditeit en mortaliteit wereldwijd, ondanks een daling van de mortaliteit ten gevolge van ischemische hartziekten in de westerse wereld.1 De daling in de westerse wereld wordt vooral veroorzaakt doordat ischemische aandoeningen beter behandeld worden en het aantal rokers afneemt.
