Behandeling van de (dreigende) miskraam

Samenvatting

Twee op de tien zwangere vrouwen hebben bloedverlies in het eerste trimester van de zwangerschap. In de helft van de gevallen is sprake van een miskraam. De behandelkeuzen zijn dan afwachten of een curettage. Medicamenteuze behandeling van een miskraam is in Nederland nog niet mogelijk. De effectiviteit van curettage is 95%. Afwachten is effectief in ongeveer 50%. Na een week afwachten verliest in 38% van de gevallen de vrouw de vrucht spontaan.

De kwaliteit van leven is gedurende drie maanden na de miskraam het beste bij vrouwen die worden behandeld naar hun eigen voorkeur: afwachten of curettage. Wanneer vrouwen geen sterk uitgesproken voorkeur hebben kan men in eerste instantie het beste een afwachtend beleid van voeren.
