De introductie van de Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) en daarmee gerelateerd instrumentarium in Nederland

Abstract

De Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire is een screeningsinstrument om probleemgedrag bij kinderen en jeugdigen zo vroeg mogelijk te herkennen. De SDQ kan kosteloos worden gedownload van internet (www.sdqinfo.com). Het Trimbos-instituut maakte een uitgebreide versie van de SDQ, de Spsy. Nadeel is dat de Spsy tweemaal zo lang is als de SDQ, en meer het accent legt op probleemgedrag. Een beter alternatief is de DAWBA, een pakket instrumenten waarmee psychopathologie bij kinderen en adolescenten in beeld kan worden gebracht. De Nederlandse vertaling is inmiddels in voorbereiding. De SDQ en de DAWBA kunnen worden afgenomen als eerste fase van het diagnostische onderzoek. Een ervaren clinicus kan op basis van de gegevens van de SDQ en de DAWBA meestal een juiste uitspraak doen over de eventuele aanwezigheid en aard van psychiatrische problemen, in relatief korte tijd.
