Abstract
In dit artikel doen wij verslag van de evaluatie van het opvoedingsondersteuningsprogramma Home-Start. Doelen van Home-Start zijn: het vergroten van het welzijn van ouders, daarmee het verbeteren van hun opvoedingsgedrag en uiteindelijk het voorkomen en/of verminderen van probleemgedrag van kinderen. In dit artikel beschrijven we eerst het programma met een voorbeeld van hoe het is uitgevoerd. Daarna volgt het verslag van het onderzoek naar de effectiviteit.
De resultaten laten zien dat het welzijn van de Home-Startmoeders significant vooruitging en dat een deel van het opvoedingsgedrag ten goede veranderde. Er werden echter geen veranderingen in het probleemgedrag van kinderen geconstateerd die aan Home-Start toe te schrijven waren. Vervolgens is binnen de Home-Startgroep gekeken of kenmerken van de deelnemende gezinnen of kenmerken van het programma zelf de effectiviteit beïnvloedden. Dit bleek nauwelijks het geval te zijn.
