Antipsychotica bij ouderen: farmacologie van atypische middelen

Samenvatting

Psychosen komen bij ouderen frequent voor. De prevalentie bij ouderen wordt geschat op 6-10%. Psychosen bij ouderen zijn het gevolg van primaire psychotische beelden (zoals schizofrenie) of zijn secundair aan bijvoorbeeld de ziekte van Alzheimer, Lewy-lichaampjes-dementie of andere aandoeningen zoals de ziekte van Parkinson. Met name de secundaire psychosen zouden minder goed worden herkend.
