Inhalatiecorticosteroïden en de kans op botbreuken

Samenvatting

Momenteel wordt het preventief inhaleren van corticosteroïden aangeraden voor kinderen en jongeren met een aanhoudend milde of ernstigere vorm van astma. Inhalatiecorticosteroïden zouden ten opzichte van oraal ingenomen corticosteroïden het voordeel hebben dat er minder bijwerkingen optreden. Toch komt een deel van de inhalatiecorticosteroïden in de orofarynx terecht, wordt dan ingeslikt en alsnog vanuit de darm geresorbeerd.
