Samenvatting

In het algemeen wordt geadviseerd om een statine ’s avonds in te nemen omdat is aangetoond dat cholesterol voornamelijk wordt aangemaakt op tijden dat de voedselopname het laagst is. Vooral voor patiënten die in de loop van de dag ook nog andere geneesmiddelen moeten innemen, kan dit tijdstip bezwaarlijk zijn. Om die reden hebben Wallace et al. onderzocht wat de gevolgen zijn voor de lipidenconcentraties in het bloed wanneer simvastatine ’s ochtends wordt ingenomen.
