Samenvatting

Leukotriënenantagonisten zitten volgens de GINA-richtlijnen (Global Initiative for Asthma) uit 2002 nog steeds in de wachtkamer in afwachting van verder onderzoek. Niettemin vertegenwoordigen montelukast en zafirlukast 30% van de verkoopcijfers voor geneesmiddelen tegen astma in de VS (tegen 10% in Canada en het Verenigd Koninkrijk). In hoeverre hebben ze anno 2004 een plaats in de behandeling van astma?
