Samenvatting

In de al vaak genoemde serie ‘Clinical Practice’ verscheen ook een bespreking van postnatale depressie. Na de beschrijving van het ziektebeeld, het noodzakelijke onderzoek en de differentiële diagnostiek, ligt het zwaartepunt bij de farmacotherapie. Na een analyse van de gepubliceerde trials opteren de auteurs voor SSRI'S, gestart in de halve dosering. Modern accent is dat ook wordt verwezen naar aan te raden lekenliteratuur (Behind the smile: my journey out of post-partum depression van Marie Osmond) en naar bruikbare websites voor patiënten.
