In 1999 is een rapport uitgebracht door de Canadese vereniging van University Teachers als reactie op een vier jaar durend geschil in het ‘Hospital for Sick Children’ in Toronto, met als kernprobleem de pogingen van een geneesmiddelenfabrikant om publicatie van tegenvallende onderzoeksresultaten van een van diens producten te voorkomen.
