Samenvatting

In Nederland worden mucolytica voorgeschreven (en op aanvraag vergoed) als onderhoudsbehandeling bij chronische bronchitis en emfyseem, in de hoop het aantal exacerbaties te verminderen en de langetermijnprognose te verbeteren. Omtrent mucolytica als onderhoudsbehandeling bij COPD is recentelijk een Cochrane metaanalyse verschenen waarin 23 gerandomiseerde, placebogecontroleerde onderzoeken waren opgenomen (waarvan 12 met acetylcysteïne).
